The Optimizer Utility is accessed from the Design Tools Panel located in the Home Tab.
This utility uses a proprietary algorithm to minimize tank raw material and construction costs.
The Tank Optimizer window is separated into different tabs, Design Parameters, Attached Piping, and Materials.
Optimizer – Design Parameters #
The Design Parameters tab is separated into different areas, Optimizer Parameters, Tank Design Parameters, Liquid Product Parameters, Seismic Design Parameters, and Wind Design Parameters.
Optimizer Parameters Area #
The Optimizer Parameters Area includes all the necessary parameters needed for tank optimization:
Capacity Type – Specify the capacity type for the optimization process. It supports four types: Shell Capacity, Maximum Capacity, Nominal Capacity, and Net Working Capacity.
Capacity – Specifies the tank’s target capacity.
Shell Course Plate Height – Specifies the tank’s shell course plate height used for the optimization algorithm.
Shell Course Stepping – Specifies the tank’s shell course stepping used for the optimization algorithm. Tank height of the tank is stepped using values proportional to the shell course plate height.
Maximum Diameter – Specifies the tanks maximum diameter limit for the optimization algorithm.
Minimum Diameter – Specifies the tanks minimum diameter limit for the optimization algorithm.
Round Diameter – Specifies the value to round tank’s diameter for the optimization algorithm.
Maximum Height – Specifies the tanks maximum height limit for the optimization algorithm.
Minimum Height – Specifies the tanks minimum height limit for the optimization algorithm.
Minimum Freeboard – Specifies the tanks minimum freeboard for the optimization algorithm.
Minimum DLL to NFL Distance – Specifies the tanks minimum DLL to NFL distance for the optimization algorithm.
Minimum Fill Level – Specifies the tanks minimum fill level for the optimization algorithm.
If a parameter is disabled from this area a default value defined on the options file is used for the optimization algorithm.

For more information check Attached Piping Tab help.
Optimizer – Materials #
The Materials tab is separated into different areas, Tank Materials, Corrosion Allowance, and Tank Cost per Unit Weight.
Tank Materials #
The Tank Materials Area includes all tank materials used for the tank’s design.
Corrosion Allowance #
The Corrosion Allowance Area includes all corrosion allowance values used for each component used for the tank’s design.
Tank Cost per Unit Weight #
The Tank Cost per Unit Weight Area includes all tank’s components cost per unit weight used for the tank’s design. This allows the user a more precise estimate in the quotation stage, minimizing the uncertainty that is generally found in these stages.
