The Material Database Utility is accessed from the References Panel located in the Home Tab.
This utility allows the user to visualize the material database in a fast easily accessible way. It also allows the user to create, modify, delete, or import/export custom materials.
The Material Database window is separated into different areas, Material Tree, Information Area, and Temperature Dependent Graph Area. It also has an Import button to import custom materials.
Material Tree #
The Material Tree allows the user to inspect and modify materials. Only custom materials may be modified by the user.
By left-clicking on a material node, the material information is displayed in the Information Area and the Temperature Dependent Graphs Area.
Right-clicking a standard material node #
By right-clicking on a standard material node in Material Tree, the user is given access to operations that can be applied to the selected material.
The actions that the user may perform from the pop-up menu are as follows:
Clone – Copy the selected material. An Edit Material window is opened with the exact information as the material being copied and is open for modifications.
Right-clicking a custom material node #
By right-clicking on a custom material node in Material Tree, the user is given access to operations that can be applied to the selected material.
Edit… – Edit the selected custom material. An Edit Material window is opened to modify the selected custom material.
Clone – Copy the selected custom material. An Edit Material window is opened with the exact information as the material being copied and is open for modifications.
Delete – Delete the selected custom material.
Export – Export the selected custom material for future use.
Information Area #
The Information Area displays general material information such as:
- Name
- Category
- Type
- Product Form
- Standard
- Reference
- Group
- Plate Specification
- Grade
- Alloy Designation
- Class
