The Design Parameters tab is organized in different areas labeled Tank Design Parameters, Liquid Product Parameters, Seismic Design Parameters, and Wind Design Parameters.
Tank Design Parameters #
Unit System – Specifies the unit system used for tank calculations.
Tank Diameter – Specifies the diameter of the tank based on the option selected in the Shell Course Alignment parameter on the Shell Tab.
Top of Shell Height – Specifies the tank shell height.
Design Liquid Level – Specifies the design liquid level for tank calculations.
Maximum Fill Level – Specifies the maximum liquid level of the tank.
Normal Fill Level – Specifies the normal working level of the tank.
Minimum Fill Level – Specifies the minimum liquid level of the tank.
Design Temperature – Specifies the design temperature.
Ambient Temperature – Specifies the ambient temperature.
Design Metal Temperature – Specifies the minimum design temperature (metal temperature).
Capacity Unit – Specifies the unit to display capacity values.
Maximum Capacity – Specifies the maximum capacity in the units selected. The capacity is computed based on the maximum fill level.
Nominal Capacity – Specifies the nominal capacity in the units selected. The capacity is computed based on the normal fill level.
Net Working Capacity – Specifies the net working capacity in the units selected. The capacity is computed based on the difference between nominal and minimum capacity.
Minimum Operating Capacity – Specifies the minimum operating capacity in the units selected. The capacity is computed based on the minimum fill level.
Overfill Protection Volume Requirement – Specifies the overfill protection volume requirement.
Normal Operating Internal Pressure – Specifies the normal operating internal pressure of the tank.
Normal Operating External Pressure – Specifies the normal operating external pressure of the tank.
Design Internal Pressure – Specifies the design internal pressure of the tank.
Design External Pressure – Specifies the design external pressure of the tank.
Roof Live Load – Specifies the roof live load of the tank.
Roof Dead Load – Specifies the roof dead load of the tank.
Ground Snow Load – Specifies the ground snow load of the tank.
Maximum Filling Rate – Specifies the maximum filling rate of the tank.
Maximum Emptying Rate – Specifies the maximum emptying rate of the tank.
API 650 5.3.5 Purchaser approval – Specifies Purchaser’s agreement in accordance with API 650 5.3.5 rule set thickness replacement.
Liquid Product Parameters #
Specific Gravity – Specifies the specific gravity of the product stored in the tank.
Flash Point – Specifies the flash point of the product stored in the tank.
Boiling Point – Specifies the boiling point of the product stored in the tank.
Seismic Design Parameters #
Seismic Design Code – Specifies the seismic design code used for calculations.
Seismic Use Group – Specifies the seismic use group (SUG) for the tank.
Seismic Site Class – Specifies the seismic site class, a classification assigned to a site based on the types of soils present and their engineering properties.
K – Specifies the coefficient to adjust the spectral acceleration from 5 % to 0.5 % damping.
TL – Specifies the regional-dependent transition period for longer period ground motion in seconds.
Rwi – Specifies the force reduction factor for the impulsive mode using allowable stress design methods.
Rwc – Specifies the force reduction coefficient for the convective mode using allowable stress design methods.
Av – Specifies the vertical earthquake acceleration parameter in g.
Ac – Specifies the convective design response spectrum acceleration parameter in g.
Ai – Specifies the impulsive design response spectrum acceleration coefficient in g.
Af– Specifies the acceleration coefficient for sloshing wave height calculation in g.
Q – Specifies the scaling factor from the MCER to the design-level spectral accelerations.
Fa – Specifies the acceleration-based site coefficient (at 0.2 sec period).
Fv – Specifies the velocity-based site coefficient (at 1.0 sec period).
Ss – Specifies the 5% damped, spectral response acceleration parameter at short periods (0.2 sec) in g.
S1 – Specifies the 5 % damped, spectral response acceleration parameter at a period of one second in g.
S0 – Specifies the 5 % damped, spectral response acceleration parameter at a period of zero seconds (peak ground acceleration for a rigid structure) in g.
Sds – Specifies the design, 5% damped, spectral response acceleration parameter at short periods (T = 0.2 seconds) based on ASCE 7 methods in g.
Sd1 – Specifies the design, 5 % damped, spectral response acceleration parameter at one second based on the ASCE 7 methods in g.
Sp – Specifies the design-level peak ground acceleration parameter for sites not addressed by ASCE methods in g.
Sa0* – Specifies the 5 % damped, design spectral response acceleration parameter at zero period based on site-specific procedures in g.
CIRSOC 103 Zona – Specifies the CIRSOC 103 zone.
CIRSOC 103 Tipo – Specifies the CIRSOC 103 type.
CIRSOC 103 Grupo – Specifies the CIRSOC 103 group.
